Rabea Rogge
Astronaut and Arctic Roboticist
Apparently you need a website nowadays. Ready to join me on a journey?
Welcome, traveler.
My name is Rabea and I am an astronaut and robotics researcher. I am a pilot for the Fram2 space mission, the first human spaceflight to orbit both of Earth’s polar regions. Meet the crew ->

What even am I?
I am fascinated by extreme environments. I study them to understand the limits of this world – and push beyond them. My operational experience has been developed through fighting illegal fishing in West Africa, operating robotic boats in the Arctic, and leading a satellite mission.
My background is electrical engineering and currently I am pursuing a PhD in arctic robotics titled Data-driven guidance, navigation and control of autonomous surface vehicles in harsh conditions. My research interests include AI-driven decision making in extreme conditions, game theoretic control and multi-agent collaboration.

Space
Fram2: First polar orbit human spaceflight. Experiments in biology, cognition, and communication.

The Arctic
Autonomous navigation in extreme conditions. I research how machines make decisions where humans can’t.

The Ocean
Fighting illegal fishing offshore in West Africa with the NGO Sea Shepherd. My job: Keeping the navigational equipment alive.
Let’s talk.
I’m happy to receive your message, whether it is a media request, research interest or you wanting to start a discourse about the future of humanity (and robots). Feel free to drop me an email at contact@rabearogge.com.

Perspective
Impressions taken with my Minolta X-300 – it has been everywhere with me.
Beyond the technical, I spend far too much time thinking about the philosophical questions behind exploration and autonomy. What does it mean to trust a machine? What are the ethical limits of exploration? Let’s see what future we can build through technology.
I believe as humanity we need to explore to….

…gain new perspectives

…challenge established ways of thinking

….find new horizons

…understand how to survive

…navigate unknown environments

…find what lies beyond human limits

…understand what is worth protecting

…see how to best collaborate with technology

….work together in tough situations
Where will your next step take you?
